Join us when Professor Michael Hoberman delivers a lecture on his latest book. Imagining Early American Jews (2025, Oxford University Press), which explores popular interpretations of early Jewish history in the U.S.

Michael Hoberman is a Professor of English Studies at Fitchburg State University. He earned his Ph.D. in English and American Studies from University of Massachusetts Amherst.

His other books include A Hundred Acres of America: The Geography of Jewish American Literary History and New Israel/New England: Jews and Puritans in Early America. His essays appear in numerous scholarly journals and popular venues, including Tablet Magazine and The Jewish Review of Books. During the Spring of 2026, he will be a senior research fellow at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where he’ll be completing a book about Theodore Seixas Solomons, the founder of California’s John Muir Trail.
