Lerone A. Martin is a postdoctoral associate with the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics for 2013-14. This lecture reflects research on his current book project with New York University Press, which tracks the role of the phonograph in the shaping of African American religion, culture, and politics during the first half of the twentieth century.
Respondents to the lecture will be Gerald Early, Merle Kling Professor of Modern Letters, and Laurie Maffly-Kipp, Distinguished Professor in the Humanities with the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, both at Washington University in St. Louis.
Professor Martin earned his BA from Anderson University in Anderson, IN, and his Master of Divinity Degree from Princeton Theological Seminary before completing his PhD at Emory University in 2011.
